Delaware estates are different

If you've read advice written for Pennsylvania, some of it won't apply. Delaware has no inheritance tax, and its estate tax was repealed for deaths from 2018 on, so a Delaware estate usually doesn't need a coin collection valued for a state tax return. New Castle County estates are handled by the Register of Wills on North French Street in Wilmington, a branch of the Court of Chancery. Your estate attorney can confirm what your particular estate needs.

What most families do need is a straight answer on what the coins are worth and who will pay fairly for them. That's what we do.

For larger collections we set a time to visit, give a rough estimate there, and make an exact offer on the spot if you want to sell that day. Please don't clean the coins or take them out of their holders before we see them.
