We're about fifteen minutes from most of the Northeast — up Roosevelt Boulevard or across Cheltenham Avenue, depending where you start. Our office is at 261 Old York Road, Suite 510 in Jenkintown, and we've been buying coins there since 1973.

What we usually see from the Northeast

More coins come to us from Northeast Philadelphia than anywhere else, and they tend to share a shape: accumulations rather than collections. Someone set silver aside when it left circulation in 1965 and never went back to it. A coffee can of wheat pennies. Franklin and Kennedy halves in a dresser drawer. Silver certificates. A Morgan dollar or two pulled from a bank roll in the fifties.

That material is worth real money — a 1964 quarter is worth many times its face value — but it's rarely worth what people either fear or hope. We'll tell you which one you have, honestly, including when it isn't worth your trip.

We also see genuine collections from the Northeast: type sets, proof sets, Whitman folders filled in over thirty years. Those we go through coin by coin, because that's where the money usually hides.

Settling an estate

We work with families, heirs and executors across the Northeast regularly, and discreetly. One tip before you call anyone: don't clean the coins. Cleaning can cut a coin's value by more than half, and it can't be undone. Leave them in their original holders, albums and rolls, and don't throw anything out — the beat-up-looking one is sometimes the valuable one.
